A professor at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies states that the US attack on Iran in February has severely damaged the international credibility of Washington's military power, and the US may ultimately be forced to accept the new realities on the ground.

Mohammed Al-Masri, a professor at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, told Al Jazeera that US credibility has been irreparably damaged during the conflict with Iran—a fact beyond doubt.

Regarding US President Donald Trump's claims about increased oil tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, he noted that tracking data indicates very few ships are actually able to traverse this route.

Al-Masri added that despite the US employing all its efforts to facilitate the covert, nighttime passage of ships, it has failed to restore maritime traffic to anything approaching normal levels.

The professor stated that the situation will eventually reach a point where one side must alter its stance: either Iran accepts US conditions—which he considers highly unlikely—or Washington is compelled to accept some of the new realities on the ground.
