Countries obeying US sanctions will ‘certainly face problems’ in Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s Army warns

Iran’s Army has warned that countries complying with US sanctions against the Islamic Republic will “certainly face problems” in passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Army spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia made the remarks in an interview with IRNA news agency published on Sunday, a few days after the failure of the United States’ military campaign aimed at forcibly reopening the strategic waterway.

“From now on, the countries that comply with the US in imposing sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran will definitely face difficulties in passing through the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.

Iran shut down the Strait of Hormuz to enemies and their allies following the launch on February 28 of the unprovoked US-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic.

It began exercising far stricter controls last month after US President Donald Trump announced an illegal blockade of Iranian vessels and ports in violation of the terms of a Pakistan-brokered ceasefire that took effect on April 8.
