CNN: Trump Always Backs Down

CNN wrote in a report: The recent developments in the tension between the United States and Iran have once again clearly demonstrated Donald Trump's behavioral pattern; a pattern based on maximum threats and last-minute backtracking. The US president, who had spoken in unprecedented language earlier in the day about the possibility of the destruction of "a civilization of 90 million people," backed down from his position just a few hours later and announced the postponement of military strikes.

The report states: Trump introduced this decision in the form of a "bilateral ceasefire" and claimed that Iran had agreed to the full opening of the Strait of Hormuz. However, Tehran's official positions show that such a narrative is far from reality and that Iran still controls and manages traffic in this strategic passageway.

CNN added: This sudden turn of events brought widespread reactions within the United States. Critics saw the move as another example of “TACO” (Trump Always Backs Down) behavior, an approach in which strong threats are replaced by tactical retreats, undermining Washington’s foreign policy credibility.

The report states: Trump supporters, in contrast, have tried to portray the move as part of his negotiating tactics. However, the reality is that repeating this pattern could send a clear message to international actors: American threats do not necessarily lead to action.

CNN stated: Ultimately, while postponing conflict could prevent the crisis from escalating, the continuation of this contradictory behavior is more than anything a sign of strategic confusion in American foreign policy and a decline in its deterrent power on the international stage.
