Key Article of the Strait of Hormuz Management Plan Approved

The spokesperson for the National Security Commission of the Parliament announced the approval of the key article of the Strategic Action Plan for Ensuring Security and Sustainable Progress of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf (Martyr Tangsiri).

Hassan Qashqavi, a representative of Robat Karim and Baharestan in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in an interview with the Fars News Agency, announced the approval of Article 3 of the Strategic Action Plan for Ensuring Security and Sustainable Progress of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf (Martyr Tangsiri) at today’s session of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.

Referring to the importance of this article, he said: Article 3 is one of the key and strategic articles of this plan that was approved today by the National Security Commission.

Qashqavi added: Based on this article, the General Staff of the Armed Forces is obliged to announce its plan and program, using the capacity of all institutions and executive bodies, regarding the regulation of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and also defending the country’s national sovereignty.

The spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament continued: "Accordingly, the line of the passage area and the traffic routes in the Strait of Hormuz will be determined and formulated by the General Staff of the Armed Forces, utilizing the capacity of the relevant agencies." He clarified: "In the next stage, this route will be presented to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for international processes." Qashqavi emphasized: "The ratification of Article 3 is of particular importance in terms of content and strategy, because it clarifies the task of the Strait of Hormuz from various dimensions, including environmental protection, national security, and the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
