According to Tasnim News Agency's International Desk, the United Kingdom's Foreign Secretary held a telephone conversation on Friday with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, to discuss regional and international developments as well as bilateral relations.

Iran's foreign minister described the United Kingdom's approach toward Iran as inappropriate, citing, among other issues, the country's recent measure to designate the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and what he characterized as Britain's complicity in the two wars launched against Iran by the United States and Israel. He condemned these actions as unjustified and stressed the need for the British government to reconsider its policies.

Araghchi also stated that any form of cooperation with the aggressors, including under the pretext of previous defense agreements, is unacceptable. He added:

"Under international law and the UN definition of aggression, allowing aggressor states to use a country's territory or facilities to carry out an unlawful attack against another country constitutes an act of aggression and entitles the state under attack to exercise its inherent right of self-defense."

London: We Are Not Part of the War Against Iran

The UK Foreign Secretary, outlining the policy of the new British government, stated:

"We are not part of the war against Iran, and we believe diplomacy is the way to resolve disputes."

He also emphasized the importance of maintaining diplomatic engagement with Iran in order to improve bilateral relations and reduce tensions in the region.
