Lebanon's Supreme Council of Shiites Stresses Immediate Halt to Negotiations with Israel

The Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Islamic Shiites of Lebanon, while criticizing the Lebanese government's silence towards the crimes of the Zionist regime, emphasized that the country's officials must end this silence.

According to the Fars News Agency International Group, Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, while criticizing the country's pro-Western government's commitment to the Zionist regime, said on Saturday that Beirut's fruitless concessions to the Zionists have caused the attack on southern Lebanon to continue.

Pointing out that the Zionist regime's aggressions are taking place without any justification, Al-Khatib stated: This aggression is the result of the failure of direct negotiations, which we had rejected from the outset.

He considered the condemnation of these attacks by the Lebanese government insufficient and said: "Mere condemnation is not enough to prevent the repetition of these attacks, but a new approach must be adopted in the future."

Lebanese media reported this morning that a residential house in the "Al-Ras" neighborhood in the town of Deir al-Zahrani was targeted in an airstrike.

This morning, the Israeli army committed another crime by airstrike on a residential house on the outskirts of the town of Ansar in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the death toll from the Israeli attacks on the towns of Ansar and Deir al-Zahrani has reached 11 martyrs and 19 wounded.

Sheikh Al-Khatib, emphasizing that the government of this country should immediately stop negotiations with Israel, noted: We call for a comprehensive national dialogue that will draw a new perspective for the next stage.

Stating that it was predicted that the Zionist regime would resort to intensifying military attacks on the eve of the elections, he stated: We call on America's domestic and foreign allies to exert maximum pressure on the US government to prevent the arrogance of the Zionists.

The Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Islamic Council of Lebanese Shiites, pointing out that the anger of the Lebanese people over the current situation has reached its peak, concluded: Our people are no longer able to bear further suffering and co

nsequences.
