However, according to the *Washington Post*, he has privately acknowledged to advisors that his decisions concerning the conflict have contributed to the unfavorable political climate facing his party; this realization has made him more determined to help Republicans mitigate the anticipated election losses.
According to four informed sources, Trump has become realistic about the deteriorating political landscape in recent weeks and is closely monitoring polls that are often disheartening for his fellow Republicans.
This has prompted Trump to take a more active role in the midterm elections; for instance, he has pledged to campaign for and fund candidates facing tough races. He has even floated the idea of a $5,000 payment to Americans, implicitly linking its implementation to the election results.
