Amidst ongoing negative reactions to the Iraqi government's decision to halt flights to and from Iran, the head of the Al-Nujaba Movement's Executive Council has called for a massive sit-in outside Najaf International Airport.

In a statement, Sheikh Nazim al-Sa'idi, head of the Al-Nujaba Executive Council, urged the Iraqi public, tribal sheikhs, organizers of Husseini processions (*Mawkibs*), and airport staff to take a responsible stance regarding the decision to close airports—specifically Najaf International Airport—to Iranian aircraft due to oppressive US pressure.

Sheikh al-Sa'idi added that this decision violates Iraq's national sovereignty, constitutes a grave error in the history of a resilient and steadfast Iraq, and will lead to dangerous humanitarian, economic, and religious consequences.

Elaborating on the repercussions, he noted that this move would block the path for patients and individuals seeking medical treatment abroad.

The Al-Nujaba Executive Council head further stated that implementing this oppressive decision would prevent thousands of pilgrims from visiting the shrine of the Commander of the Faithful (Imam Ali) and the Imams of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), while also damaging the domestic economy, religious tourism, and the revenues of companies and employees in this sector. In conclusion, Sheikh Al-Sa'idi stated: "To stand against these unjust decisions and reclaim the right to national decision-making, we call upon everyone to participate actively and in large numbers in the sit-in opposing this decision—scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, in front of Najaf International Airport. This presence serves as a testament to the loyalty of the followers of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) and a defense of the dignity and destiny of this oppressed nation."
