Second Supertanker Strikes Sea Mine in the Strait of Hormuz

The Public Relations Department of the IRGC Navy announced that a violating supertanker suffered an explosion and an engine-room fire this evening after striking a sea mine south of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Sepah News, the Public Relations Department of the IRGC Navy announced:

A violating supertanker suffered an explosion and an engine-room fire this evening after striking a sea mine south of the Strait of Hormuz.

The vessel, carrying a cargo of crude oil and intending to exit the Strait of Hormuz, had deactivated all its navigation systems and violated the Strait's regulations; it met with this incident due to traversing an unauthorized route.

This is the third violating tanker since yesterday to strike sea mines and catch fire while navigating unauthorized routes in the Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC Navy declares that any vessel in the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz that deactivates its navigation and identification systems will be identified as hostile and dealt with severely and decisively.
