A Hebrew-language media outlet reported that in recent weeks, Israeli and Emirati officials have held several secret meetings in a third country with the aim of coordinating positions against Iran and discussing joint steps in international forums.
Israel’s Channel 12 reported on Tuesday evening that the meetings were held neither in the occupied territories nor in the United Arab Emirates, but in an unnamed third country whose identity has not been disclosed. The meetings reportedly took place amid the ongoing reciprocal attacks between the United States and Iran.
According to the report, Emirati officials expressed strong opposition during the meetings to a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran, describing it as an opportunity for Iran to delay negotiations, improve its economic situation, and avoid offering any genuine concessions in return.
The Israeli Channel 12 network added that the two sides discussed initiatives to coordinate actions against Iran within international frameworks and organisations. However, they reportedly agreed that none of these measures would be implemented without prior coordination with the Trump administration.
The Hebrew-language network, citing Western diplomats, reported that the UAE, unlike some other Arab Gulf states, is taking a tougher approach toward Iran and does not see a basis in Tehran’s current policies for overcoming disagreements with the country.
The diplomats claimed that Abu Dhabi is not influenced by what they described as Tehran’s efforts to delay proceedings, and that the UAE’s ability to export oil and gas through alternative routes bypassing the Strait of Hormuz has strengthened the overlap of interests between the UAE and Israel in confronting Iran.
Hebrew-language media outlets had previously reported on visits by senior political and military officials from the Israeli regime to the UAE during the war against Iran.
