According to a Mehr News Agency reporter, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari—Chief of the Joint Staff and Deputy Coordinator of the Army—spoke to reporters on Thursday, October 15 (Mehr 23), on the sidelines of a ceremony honoring Army nurses. Regarding the status of the Strait of Hormuz, he stated: "The Strait of Hormuz is closed; if it were not closed and oil were passing through it, gasoline prices in the United States would not have risen. This is entirely clear and evident."
Elaborating on the presence of armed forces in the region, he added: "To the west of the Strait of Hormuz, the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stands firm, while to the east—extending to the northern Sea of Oman—the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran maintains a powerful presence, exercising 100% control and surveillance over the area."
Rear Admiral Sayyari emphasized: "Should any passage take place, it must be done with coordination; otherwise, you can see from the news what happens."
The Army’s Deputy Coordinator continued: "This very situation demonstrates that the Strait of Hormuz is closed. If the Strait were open, oil would be flowing through, and gasoline prices in those countries would not have increased."
He noted: "As long as these countries are seeking to secure gasoline and diesel, it signifies that the Strait of Hormuz is closed—this is the clear proof of that fact."
