Trump Lacks the Capacity to Start a War with Iran; Iran Holds the Key to Regional Security

In an interview with a Mehr News Agency reporter, Hamidreza Haji-Babayi—assessing the recent four-party meeting between Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia regarding regional security and stability—stated: "The presence of officials from these nations in Tehran, and the convening of this meeting, primarily demonstrate the authority of the Islamic Republic of Iran. It reveals that without Iran’s participation and active role, these countries are not only incapable of ensuring regional security, but would also face challenges in maintaining their own internal security and managing their domestic affairs."

The Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) continued: "It is inconceivable that the three countries present at this meeting would have taken such a step without first securing the consent of, or coordinating with, the United States. This suggests that the Americans themselves also felt a need for such a meeting to take place."

He added: "The Americans—and Donald Trump in particular—are grappling with serious domestic problems. Furthermore, economic issues and currency fluctuations have impacted the situation in the U.S.; collectively, these factors have compelled the American administration to seek a strategy to manage its internal landscape."

Trump Seeks to Exploit Regional Developments for Propaganda Purposes

Noting that the U.S. currently lacks the capacity to initiate a new war against Iran, the representative for Hamedan in Parliament stated: "Although the Americans continue to pursue certain tension-inducing policies—and we frequently witness aggressive rhetoric from their officials directed at Iran—they are, in reality, constrained by significant internal limitations and challenges. Consequently, they are pursuing actions that can be leveraged for propaganda purposes."

He added: "It appears that the U.S. administration is attempting to use this new propaganda-driven atmosphere to influence economic conditions and currency fluctuations, while also seeking to persuade its own domestic public opinion to support its policies." Emphasizing the importance of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s "good neighborliness" policy, the Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly stated: "We have consistently underscored the necessity of expanding friendly relations and cooperation with neighboring countries; in this light, the hosting of such meetings in Tehran is a positive and significant step."

He added: "The fact that regional nations are gathering in Tehran—with the Islamic Republic of Iran at the center—to discuss critical issues such as the Strait of Hormuz, the Bab el-Mandeb, the 'Axis of Resistance,' Lebanon, Palestine, and other regional matters, demonstrates Iran’s standing and influence within the regional equation."

Haji-Babayi noted: "The very act of holding this meeting in Tehran, and the discussion of key regional security and political issues, is a positive development. It signals that regional states recognize the role and capacity of the Islamic Republic of Iran in addressing shared challenges."

**Remain Vigilant Regarding U.S. Intelligence Objectives Under the Guise of Negotiations**

Warning against the potential underlying motives behind U.S. diplomatic maneuvers in the region, the representative for Hamedan in the Parliament remarked: "At the same time, we must not overlook the possibility that the U.S. is using these interactions to gauge the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran and assess its current situation."

He explained: "During political negotiations and dialogues, the Americans typically seek to evaluate the other side's stance—to understand the Islamic Republic of Iran’s current position, the perspectives it puts forward, and the decisions it might potentially make."

Haji-Babayi continued: "They gather intelligence from the statements and positions articulated during these talks, which they may then use to plan their own future actions. Therefore, we must remain fully vigilant regarding such approaches." The Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly noted that past experience has shown that, on certain occasions, negotiations with the United States have been followed by aggressive actions on its part. Therefore, while welcoming regional engagement, it is essential to remain vigilant and sensitive regarding the potential hidden agendas of the American side.

The World Has Realized That the Key to Regional Security Lies with Iran

Emphasizing the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in ensuring regional security, Hajibabayi stated: "It has become clear to the world today that the Islamic Republic of Iran holds the key to regional security; without Iran’s presence and effective participation, achieving lasting stability and security would be impossible."

He further remarked that the quadrilateral meeting in Tehran has highlighted this reality more than ever, demonstrating that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s steadfastness and resistance in the face of pressure have yielded results.
