Many officials have questioned President Donald Trump’s logic, commitment and goals in the war, as well as the value of hosting U.S. bases that have made their countries targets.

Gulf states worry that Trump will reach a deal with Tehran that does not limit its production of ballistic missiles or support for proxy militia groups, leaving them alone with an angry and bitter Iran.
