The head of Hezbollah’s Shura Council, Sheikh Mohammad Yazbek, said over the weekend the resistance group would remain supportive of Syria in the face of conspiracies.

“Syria’s only guilt is the support it has given to those who resist and we will stand by this country, its army, leadership and people so that it would remain in the face of all conspiracies aimed at tearing the [Arab] nation,” Yazbek said on Sunday, The Daily Star reported.

Yazbek spoke during a ceremony in Baalbek, east of Beirut, to commemorate the death of Ali Al-Habesh who died during the July-August 2006 war between Lebanon and Israel. Hezbollah has repeatedly voiced its support for President Bashar Assad’s government and repeated Damascus’ views that the country is facing a foreign conspiracy to topple Assad.

Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah’s secretary general, has warned that any attack on Syria will engulf the entire region, hinting at possible interference by the resistance group.
