Afghan protesters have held an anti-US demonstration in the central province of Wardak, demanding the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country.

According to AFP, on Saturday, protesters shouted slogans against the United States and called for an end to the country’s decade-long military presence in Afghanistan

The angry demonstrators say the US-led foreign forces have set fire to a drugstore and desecrated the Holy Qur’an.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s parliament has approved a recently signed security pact between Kabul and Washington, which extends the US presence in the war-torn country to another decade beyond 2014.

Critics have condemned the agreement as a violation of Afghanistan's sovereignty, demanding all foreign troops leave their country by the end of 2014.
