Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday that presence of women in the auspicious movement of the Islamic Awakening will bring numerous victories for the Muslim nations.

According to Ahl ul-Bayt News Agency (ABNA), he made the remarks in a meeting with more than one thousand elite women from 85 countries who have attended World Assembly of Women and the Islamic Awakening in Tehran.

Imam Khamenei said that the international conference provided an opportunity for getting acquainted with women in the Muslim World, adding that the acquaintance of women with one another in the course of the conference would pave the way for an effective and lasting movement in reviving the identity and character of Muslim women worldwide.

He said that the western governments have made relentless efforts over the past 100 years to separate Muslim women from their Islamic identity.

“Endeavors of elite women in the Muslim World to revive their Islamic identity helped render a great service to the Muslim World, because the sense of identity, awareness and insight among the Muslim women made a breakthrough in the process of the Islamic Awakening movement and contributed to the prestige of the Islamic Ummah,” Imam Khamenei said.

He said that the western culture has downgraded women's status as they regard woman as a means of pleasure for man and do every thing to support their false mentality about woman. On the other hand they hid themselves behind hypocrisy and are misleading the public opinion in the name of freedom.

“They committed crimes and plunder the wealth of sovereign nations in the name of bringing democracy and upholding human rights.”

Imam Khamenei said that Islam has its own views about women contrary to the western culture, adding that Islam respects woman’s status and its identity.

He said Iranian Muslim women have set a successful model for women in other countries by achieving higher status in the academic, administrative and scientific fields.

Imam Khamenei deplored lack of respect for family values in the western culture and said that it is the outcome of the western culture that women are being exploited for men's pleasure and children born are being left without custodian.

He said that Islam honors women for the special status they have in terms of taking care of new generations and sees man and woman equal and sometimes gives woman higher status than man.
