Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast assumed that Iran and the Group 5+1 could easily reach an understanding in course of the upcoming talks in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

"Iran would get closer to its desired conclusions if the P5+1 member states continued to act as they did during the previous round of talks also held in Almaty on February 26-27," Mehmanparast predicted.

He further noted that the upcoming talks would not be of a complicated nature.

"A clear and transparent prospect should be made upon which the rights of the Iranian nation would be acknowledged, by the end of the negotiations, and, at the same time, the alleged concerns and ambiguities would be removed through necessary measures taken by both sides," the Iranian official said.

Mehmanparast believed that the upcoming talks should be conducted in a reasonable atmosphere which would help both sides reach a final solution.

He explained that the main reason for the failure of the previous rounds of talks was that the demands made by the Group 5+1 were not reasonable since they asked Iran to do things which were not proportionate with their demands.

For her part, the European Union foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, expressed "cautious optimism" about the outcome of the upcoming talks between Iran and the P5+1 group.

"I remain always cautiously optimistic but I'm also very clear that it's very important to get a response," Ashton said at a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Ankara on Wednesday.

"I look forward to what I hope will be a successful meeting in Almaty and I really do hope that Iran will now... consider the proposal we put on the table and respond to it," she added.
