Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said in Tehran today that the Iranian nation needs a brave president who is steadfast against Global Arrogance in the international arena, and is prudent in domestic affairs, possessing the required wisdom and morals.

Addressing a nationwide gathering of thousands of workers and activists of the production sector including several exemplary workers, he deemed elections as important, and stressed: The steadfast nation of Iran is in need of a prudent and morally upright president, believing in the economy of resistance, and has plans to comply with realities.

The pre-requisite for Iran’s progress is dynamism, creativeness, and epical steps, he said, adding: “Economic and political epics are interrelated and complementary to each other.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said that enacting a political epic means the conscious participation of people in the political affairs and management of the country; and an evident example in this regard is: the upcoming presidential election, which, by the Grace of God, will be held at the due time and with people’s enthusiastic presence.”

He deemed elections as an important factor for display of the national power of the country, saying: “A nation that is alive and exuberant, with trust in God and sure of Divine Support will come out triumphant in all arenas, including elections.”

The Leader stressed: Those who are candidates for the presidential polls, should enter the contest after proper assessment and it is the nation that will eventually decide.

Describing the mechanism of election in Iran as strong and solid, he said: “As Imam Khomeini had frequently emphasized, the role of the Council of Guardians in elections and in examining the qualification of the candidates, through just, impartial and insightful persons, is indeed a blessing.”

He noted that after the vetting process by the Guardian Council, the people will study the record, slogans and claims made by the approved candidates and finally vote for their person of choice; a procedure that is legal, appropriate and propitious.

Ayatollah Khamenei then referred to the ill-wishers’ attempts to dampen the hopes of the people, so as to prevent them from coming to the ballot boxes, and said the plotters in the camp of the Arrogant Powers, have yet to understand the Iranian people and their deep faith and resolve.

In his speech, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution dismissed Capitalism as ineffective, saying that an economy based on such a system wracked by the current developments in Europe and in the United States, in form or other shows that “the capitalist system in on the downward trend”.
