In parallel, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman also condemned the "Israeli" airstrike in Syria.

Mehmanparast urged countries in the region to remain united against "Israel". He also described as calculated Tel Aviv's attacks against Damascus and the desecration of a revered site belonging to a Shia Muslim figure, Hujr ibn Adi, by the terrorists in Syria.

"The Zionist regime and its allies seek to create ethnic and religious discord among Muslim countries," Mehmanparast said.

Meanwhile, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi condemned the "Israeli" attack, and warned that the Zionist regime is endangering security of the entire region.

The Iranian defense minister warned that the sinister measures by "Israel" jeopardize the security of the entire region, and said the Tel Aviv move revealed its confusion vis-à-vis the current developments across the Middle-East.

"The Zionist regime's attack against this country [Syria], which was launched with the US green light, unmasked the connection between the mercenary terrorists and their supporters and the Israeli occupying regime," Vahidi said on Sunday.

Similarly, Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan says Iran is ready to train the Syrian army should Damascus require assistance.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Pourdastan added that the Syrian army has gained experience during years of conflict with the Zionist entity, and has the ability to defend itself with no need for foreign assistance.

"As a Muslim and friendly country, we stand by Syria and if there is need for training, we will provide them with necessary training," the senior Iranian commander asserted.

He, however, emphasized that Iran would not have "active involvement in their operations."

For his part, Iranian Deputy Chief of Staff of Tran's Armed Forces Massoud Jazayeri denied the media allegations about targeting Iranian weapons in Syria by the Zionist entity.

In a statement to al-Alam TV channel Jazayeri stressed that Iran will not allow the enemy to tamper with the security of the region, adding that the resistance in the area will respond the attack on Syria.
