Iran’s Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi on the sidelines of the First Scientific Conference on the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran on Tuesday said that Tehran is seriously concerned about the recent killing of Muslims in Myanmar.

According to IRNA, he pointed to the Foreign Ministry's Monday statement on Tehran's concerns about the situation of the Muslim community in Myanmar, and said Tehran has demanded Yangon to probe the recent sad incidents in that country.

"Anyway, whatever has happened (in Myanmar), the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that it is a fully serious issue" which needs to be dealt with, he said.

Salehi asked Myanmar's government to deal with those responsible for the recent incident in that country.

On Monday, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman RaminMehmanparast expressed deep concern over the recent massacre of thousands of Myanmar Muslims by the followers of Buddhism in front of the police forces.
